I would like to go on the record and say that Raji's beard is the glue that is holds together Madhu's and my relationship. Without his beard I don't know if this marriage would be happening. I know what you are thinking. How can Raji's beard have any influence on your's and Madhu's relationship? That is a very good and insightful question. It all comes back to etymology of the word beard. The word beard actually comes from the old Sanskrit word "magam". Magam is not only a palindrome but also is the result of of the following complex mathematical derivation. Please note, you may need to be familiar with BS multi-variable calculus in order to understand the derviation.
- Given that, ma = Madhu, g = glue, and am = Amit
- Through the addition of all 3 terms, ma + g + am = magam
- Through the triple integral of the sum, we realize that the definition of the word = the glue that holds Madhu and Amit together
- QED
Hopefully you realized that was a joke and you did not try to Google the word magam because it is not a real Sanskrit word. However, the disease that Raji is raising money for is something that is very serious and very real. Here are some real statistics about breast cancer, according to the American Cancer Society:
- in the year 2010, 1.5 million people will be diagnosed with breast cancer with a dramatic increase in men’s breast cancer.
- More than ten million Americans are currently living with or through cancer.
- Global cancer rates could increase by 50 percent to fifteen million by 2020.
- Of those who survive, one quarter will have breast cancer recurrence.
- There are currently 250,000 breast cancer survivors in the United States who are forty-five years old or younger.
I had the unfortunate experience of having a family member taken by cancer, but the experience inspired me to do something about the disease. I started the nonprofit, Memory Trust Foundation, with the hope to create an international organization that helps cure a patient's pain when medicine cannot cure their disease. You can find out more about the non-profit at www.memorytrust.org. $1 could help save 1 million.
